Precision Tang Breaking Automation

This machine was designed and built for NCI, Inc. in Scottsboro, AL. Its purpose is to break the tangs used in the winding process of automotive exhaust gaskets. The operator can stack 40 gasket rings on the mandrel and press the start button. The machine automatically starts, breaks the tangs, and stops when all are removed. The mandrel also serves as an inside diameter inspection device — different sizes of mandrels are used for different sizes of gaskets. A total of 4 machines are currently in production.
